I just looked it up then, and apparantly it references to the Spanish destroying the Aztec empire, so would I be right in assuming you were learning about that specific topic? Or were you looking at poetry and various literary techniques? I remember having a look at some song lyrics when learning about that.

The main riff is beautiful. I find it very soothing, and is one of the many reasons why I love the song. What you said about compressing the song and its structure is true, but it doesn't stop the song from being a great listen, to say the least. :)
