whats the source of the problem?

okay, so, i got myself a beautiful black friday deal on an Acer 22" widescreen monitor...which is absolutely pristine. the problem is that when i turn it off while my computer is still on, it wont pick up a signal when i turn it back on. i have to restart my computer to get it to respond.
my video card is a Sapphire Radeon 9600PRO, and im using the DVI connection on the monitor. this isnt really a problem, just more of a nuisance...so, any ideas on what the problem might be?

you sure your PC isn't going into standby while the monitor is off?

If you have Vitsa, it probably is just going into standby, mine did it all the time, then I changed it on the control panel, so it wastes as much power as possible by never having the screen turn off.
