Here is some info about what to expect at StreetGeek. Most of this stuff is mirrored in the FAQ (http://www.streetgeek.com.au/portal/modules.php?name=FAQ).
Location, arrival, ticketing
All events are held at
Colonel Light Gardens Uniting Church, 560 Goodwood Road, Daw Park.
Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&geocode=&q=streetgeek&near=&sll=-34.980467,138.591886&sspn=0.024016,0.037208)
The events run from 7pm on the Friday night til 9pm on the Saturday night. If you arrive before 7pm on the Friday, you may not be admitted. If you are admitted, you must wait in the foyer until we start processing tickets a few minutes before 7.
Please do not enter a ticketed area without a ticket. You may be asked to leave the event.
Pricing
Allocated seating is required for PC gamers. Console players may choose to purchase an allocated seat, depending on their intended activities. Allocated seating is not required for card games, board games, hosted console games or lounging about. In this case, ask for a social ticket.
Allocated Seating: $18 for guys, $9 for girls. Additional seats $9 if required.
Social ticket: $9 for guys, $4.50 for girls.
Food
The StreetGeek Cafe serves 4 scheduled meals per event.
$7 Food
$5 Bottomless Coffee (or $1 per serve)
$10 Coffee + Food
Snacks, drinks and sometimes hot food is also available at the StreetGeek Cafe.
Seating
When you book for the LAN, you have the opportunity to select a seat. For regular members, we will try to hold on to your seat until 8pm on the Friday night. If you have not arrived by this time, your seat may be reallocated. Super members' seats are reserved for the entirety of the LAN, but they forfeit their spleen if they confirm and don't show up. If you will be arriving late, arrange for a friend to pay for your seat when they arrive. 'Reserved' signs are available. Seats that have been paid for and which have a 'Reserved' sign will be held for the whole LAN. Likewise, if you go home overnight, ask for a 'Reserved' sign so that your seat will not be reallocated overnight.
Supermembership
Supermembership entails paying a reduced price in advance.
3 months: $45 (instead of $54)
6 months: $80 (instead of $108)
Lifetime: $450 (instead of $infinity)
Benefits of supermembership:
You pay a reduced per-lan cost
You can book your seats before the confirmation email is sent
Your seat is held until the end of the lan
A note on the lifetime membership option. In the unlikely event that StreetGeek 'fold's within 2.5 calendar years of your becoming a life member, you will be entitled to a partial refund proportional to the amount of time remaining in the 2.5 years.
Main Tournament
I will add some content here.
Console Tournament
I will add some content here.
Other Activities
Guitar Hero and StepMania (DDR) are always running.
As this post will be a permanent fixture, any replies will be deleted after being added to the Q&A.

I wish there was one of these near Newcastle, or even Sydney for that matter. :| It would be awesome, having my arse kicked at Melee. :P
There's some in Sydney, check out: www.egg.org.au
They have smash tournaments, LANs, all at UTS (uni in Sydney).
There's none in Newcastle though.. which is a bit of a shame, but I'm sure something similar could be organised.
I wouldn't catching a train down there and playing, that would be fun.
Sorry to go off-topic, just caught my attention.

Jamage's SG 8.4 Review
My review will mainly be from console games and comps but from what I saw the PC games, comps and leeching went off and I wished I brought my PC.
Many of console games were played throughout the entire Lan and I think Guitar Hero didnt get turned off for over 24 hours. Plenty of games that arnt even released in Aus were played alot like Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii.
I had an awesome time and only slept for 1 hour (many didnt sleep at all) thanks to Jolt Cola and Monster energy drinks. I was quite tired after lots of DDR, Wii games and being on my feet most the time.
Food was great, setup rocked, atmosphere rocked and frisbee mark was alot of fun.
Plenty of prizes and door prizes were given out thanks to the Streetgeek sponsors.
Console Comps
Warioware Smooth Moves (Wii)
1st console comps of the night was the always popular and always silly Warioware Smooth Moves doing multiplayer Lifeline for pure randomness and awesomeness. This comp had the most amount of entrants and was definatly a bunch of fun with people having to perform wacky and crazy motions with the Wiimote major lol's were had during this comp.
http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/2807/sl370642ow3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
1st: Shazmo (middle left)
2nd: Ray (far right)
3rd: Chrono (middle right)
4th: John S (far left)
Mariokart Wii
What can I say Mariokart is Mariokart but now its even more of a blast with 12 player, online, motorbikes and much more. Most races were close with alot of 'oos' and 'ahhs', red shells and banna peels galore. Cant wait for next comp and the Aus release so I can have it.
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/5992/sl370680ra3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
1st: Chris (middle left)
2nd: Chrono (middle right)
3rd: Hybrid (far left)
4th: Micolous (far right)
Tekken 5 (PS2)
We had some good players in this 11 man tournament and some really good and close matches were fought. The comp was run round robin double elim and I got put into the losers bracket 1st round and the guy who beat me got knocked out by someone else then I beat him and eventually faced the undefeated Hybrid in the finals. Because he hadnt lost I had to beat him twice and he only had to beat me once and I won the 1st set of very close rounds and was then beaten in the final ina really close match.
http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/569/sl370681ig3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
1st: Hybrid (Middle)
2nd: Jamage (Right)
3rd: Tom (left)
Wii Sports Bowling (Wii)
After I scored a perfect 300 people were more interested in mucking around and bowling from the weirdest positions and even outside than putting down a competing score.
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/6435/sl370694uc6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
1st: Jamage (Perfect 300)
2nd: Woodstar
3rd: Micolous and Unknown dude
Guitar Hero 3 (PS2/Wii)
Everyone had 3 turns on Closer by Laguna Coil on Hard on either PS2, Wii or a go or 2 on each with the top score after everyone had their 3 turns winning the comp, things went well and it was alot of fun with top scores trading places a couple of times.
http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/8206/sl370696oh6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
1st: Techa (194,376)
2nd: James P (182,300)
3rd: Woodstar (173, 790)
Halo 3 was cancelled due to lack of 360's and Tv's not willing participants. It was played by a few people though. Hopefully next time.
SSBB comp didnt end up happening because everyone was more interseted playing freindlies for the mean time and getting used to the game than having a tournamnet. Game was played throughout the entire lan though.

Awesome news everybody! StreetGeek is holding a viral video (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viral_video) competition, commencing immediately. It should be alot of fun to see the submissions!
Summary: Create a video. An awesome video. It should promote or mention some aspect of StreetGeek. Consider making it no more than a few minutes long, but that's not an entry criteria.
Deadline: The competition will be judged at StreetGeek 08.07 - Wintereenmas (July). Precise deadline TBA.
Prize: Nintendo Wii, including Wiimote, Nunchuk and WiiSports game. StreetGeek reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal value or cash if Wiis are unavailable, or to increase the prize pool without notice.
Judging: All entries that exceed a reasonable standard (determined by the committee) will be screened at Wintereenmas, and attendees will be asked to vote. Voters will be asked to consider entertainment value, and publicity value to StreetGeek.
Conditions: A high-res version of the video should be provided to the committee. The video must mention or promote StreetGeek in some way. The author retains copyright of their work, and licenses it unconditionally and nonexclusively to StreetGeek. By submitting an entry, the entrant warrants that he or she has the appropriate legal rights to comply with these conditions. Entrants are able to retract or update their entries at any time before the deadline. StreetGeek reserves the right to alter these conditions with no prior notice using stealth, subterfuge and ninjility.
Q&A:
Would 640x480 be considered high-res?
Whatever is the highest resolution you have is fine. This is the video that will be shown for voting, so the higher the quality the better.
Do we have to distribute the video via youtube etc. and if so does it's popularity or spread have any effect on the judging?
No, you do not have to publish the video anywhere. StreetGeek will post it on youtube etc after the comp if you have not already done so, but youtube hits will not directly be used as a judging criteria. Voters will be asked to consider entertainment value, and (potential) publicity value to StreetGeek.
without some measure of the spread of the video outside of SG the 'viral' part of 'viral video competition' is kind of irrelevant
It's a 'viral' video competition because we hope that all of the submissions will become viral video sensations and improve the awareness of StreetGeek.
Can anyone recommend some good video editing software? Up until now I've been using VirtualDubMod, but the GUI is a bit too simplistic and it doesn't do special effects. Windows Movie Maker is better, but it only lets me save in proprietry WMV format, not XVid or anything useful.
Other users have recommended Final Cut Pro for Mac OSX or Ulead VideoStudio for Windows. DrFrag posted this list (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=61207) of video editing software.
I think I got a streetgeek viral. I've been heaps itchy lately.
StreetGeek accepts no responsibility.

Jamage’s Steetgeek 8.6 Review
It was Friday the 13th and it was cold but that didn’t stop this Lan from rockin and heaps of people from turning up and having a great time.
Unfortunatly I missed the 1st few hours because I had to work Friday night and didn’t get there till 11pm but when I got there things were crankin.
Many good games were played throughout the entire Lan.
The food cooked was great as usual, I had 3 bowls of that chicken soup.
As I spent most of my time in the console area and I wont have much to say about what went on with the PC tournaments and such but it made me wish I brang my PC to the event, it was also packed out.
We also had Rockband :D Enter the Sandman oh Yeah!!!
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3743/sl370810xx6.jpg
Console Tournaments:
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Streetgeeks best brawl tournament sofar, they are only gonna get better from here (aus release soon :D). Plenty of entrants and a double elim format meant this comp ran for hours and was pretty greuling for those who made it through each round. Many different characters and there was no favourite. Rules were 4 stock, 7 min time limit, no items etc.
1st: Hybrid
2nd: Black Aces
3rd: Jamage
4th: Anykey
5th: Shadowmandog2
http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/6329/ssbbwinnerswr0.jpg
Guitar Hero 3
We had Guitar Hero on Wii, PS2 and a PC running the 360 version I think and they were all played so much that im going crazy so I mainly played Rockband for some new songs. The comp we did was highest score on Before I forget on Hard.
1st: Tatsu -198,9681
2nd: Raedur 178,791
3rd: Kman 148,241
http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/6547/sl370809pn6.jpg
Mario Kart Wii
We ran two Mariokart Wii competitions because of popular demand and me not being there for the 1st one. People used all sorts of controls including Wii wheel (my fav), Gamecube controllers, remotes and Nunchucks and Micolous was even using a GCN – PS2 controller converter and using a PS2 control in the Mariokart Wii comp.
Friday Tournament
1st: Zac
2nd: Hybrid
3rd: Tomage
4th: Chris (Zac’s mate)
Saturday Tournament
1st: Techa
2nd: Jamage
3rd: Grand Masta Groove
4th: Shannon
http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/8673/sl370834ul6.jpg
Warioware Smooth Moves:
Once again the crazy randomness that is Warioware made an appearance at Streetgeek and as usual it was one of the biggest console comps as anyone can win no matter how bad you do but by doing good you have a slightly higher chance of winning so this is a good comp for anyone to join in on.
1st: Micolous
2nd: Jamage
3rd: Anykey
4th: Hybrid
http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/5556/sl370816pn4.jpg (Pic of one of the Warioware rounds)
Wii Sports Bowling
We did the random score target again and this time it was 105 (winner is the closest to the score or 1st to get the exact score). It was played by many at first but after only a few hours the top 3 spots had already been taken because of the low target was easy to get and not much bowling was played afterwards.
1st: Anykey (1st to get exactly105)
2nd: Lazarus (105)
3rd: Jamage (105)

8.8 Retro Console event
v08.8, 8th Aug 08
A retro console event was very popular at LPC and there was great demand for us to do another and we were planning it as LPC went under. I think it would work even better here considering the average age is a little bit higher.
Instead of bringing 360's and PS3's bring anything retro or download a bunch of VC games on your Wii and bring that.
Retro is 10 years or older so even N64's and PSones are now retro.
I will bring:
VIRTUAL BOY and 10 games :D
N64 with 4 controls and 12 games
Snes (No console)
Around 15 games and Scope bazooka gun
Nes (no cords)
Around 20 games, 4 controls, Wii Zapper
Wii Virtual Console
Super Mario Bros (Nes)
Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels (Nes)
Super Mario World (Snes)
Donkey Kong (Nes)
Donkey Kong Country (Snes)
Pac Man (Nes)
Sonic The Hedgehog (Mega Drive)
Zelda II (Nes)
Lylat Wars (N64)
Super Mario Bros 3 (Nes)
Bubble Bobble (Nes)
Double Dragon (Nes)
Wonder Boy (Master System)
Tournaments
Smash bros brawl will still be happening. 1v1 10pm friday night and 2v2 some time saturday morning (2v2 will have team attack on).
Guitar Hero 3 or Aerosmith
Goldeneye (N64), could do Perfect Dark if preferred
Pac Man High Score. Note to self and Mic: need to talk to u bout this
Donkey Kong High score
Super Mario Bros 1 Speed Run
Maybe:
Duck Hunt (need Nes Cords)
Street Fighter 2 Turbo or a simlar version (need copy)
Bomberman
Super Smash Bros 64 (need copy)
Super Mariokart SNES (need copy)

Jamage’s Steetgeek 8.7 Review
It was the middle of Winter and was very but there were a lot of people there and alot were dressed
in cool and sexy looking formal clothes and it was one of the best Lans ive ever attended. D)
http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/4336/sl370880tt2.jpg
I spent almost no time in the PC area this Lan and didn’t take a lot of notice to what was going on but it was packed out and I saw many games being played and some massive LCD screens there.
Console Games I saw played were:
Smash Bros Brawl,
Smash Bros Melee,
Halo 3,
Guitar Hero,
ddr/stepmania,
GTA 4,
Soul Calibur 3,
Wii Fit,
Wii Sports,
Mariokart Wii,
Gran Turismo 4,
DOA 4,
Virua Tennis 3,
Dead Rising and Smackdown vs Raw 08.

Food was better than ever and we had more choice than usual and special deals pushed by salespeople you just cant say no to :)
Avcon was there selling tickets, badges and informing people about it. I got my ticket from the friendly guy there. Avcon is on the 26th and 27th of July at Adelaide University
http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/2342/sl370871im4.jpg
I only had just over an hour sleep on Friday night so I went home Saturday arvo fo a few hours sleep
and came back for the end. I missed Frisbeemark :( but won a Pepsi in the random prize draw :)
Console Tournaments:
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Even though it was unofficial and not included in the Wintereenmas tournament structure it was still popular. The comp was very close the whole way through with a new guy taking out 1st place as a few regulars weren’t there. Hope everyone is there next time for a bigger and better comp. Rules were 4 stock, 7 min time limit, no items etc.

Wii Fit Soccer Heading
This was part of the Wintereenmas tournaments, everyone had 1 practice round and then 3 goes to get a high score. It proved to be very fun and everyone could have a go as the learning curve was so small and you didn’t even need arms to win. After the comp Target and then Flip got perfect scores of 555 (all 80 balls). At home I have now got a perfect score on both difficultys (655 for hard).
1st: Target - 434
2nd: Flip - 328 (pictured)

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/6600/sl371033py7.jpg
Better late than never. Retrolan was so much fun and Ive heard we broke 130 people 8) Now lets beat that.
There were plenty of retro games to play as we had 5000 games on an arcade cabinet, a Virtual Boy, Atari, N64 and a bunch of Nes and Snes games as well as VC games on peoples Wii, some emulated stuff and a few old PC's with games like GTA1 and Starcraft networked. :D
I had fun pwning Techa at Starcraft on one of the PC's there.
Virtual Boy vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWYdzuB04iA
http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/2579/sl371014wm1.jpg
We also had more Music games than a whole tribe could poke sticks at like DDR/stepmania, GH 1,2,80's, 3, Aerosmith, Rockband and more and they were played throughout the lan. People continously playing TTAF need to be shot :P

Super Smash Bros Brawl 1v1
The SSBB tournament ran pretty well with some really good and close matches like Mafesto (Marth) v Groove Master General (Marth) that match was so damm intense and we all wish that was recorded. I got knocked out by new charchters that im not used to defending against but then beat the winner Aisuka straight after his win 8O

Super Smash Bros Brawl 2v2
The 2v2 final could have been the most intense smash game iver ever had as it came down to a 2v1 against me in the final and I knocked out Silverwolfer and then engadged in the most intense battle with Aisuka with both of us on really high damage
1st: Jamage & Groove Master General
2nd: Aisuka & Silverwolfer24
3rd: Woodstar & Techa
Perfect Dark (N64)
It was about time we did a Perfect Dark tournament and at 1st I couldnt even control the game as was lucky to even make it trhough the 1st round but then got the hang of it but thought GMG would win with 30 kills in the 1st round but it wasnt to be.

This will also be ongoing for the next couple of lans. If someone can beat my score next lan they will get a small prize.
Plenty of people had a go at this but only my score was recorded and alot of people were playing on the arcade cabinet which has an extra level in its version and would get different scores.

Although still alot of fun Warioware wasnt as popular as usual as its getting older and played out so itll be given a break for a lan or 2 but its a really good comp for everyone as anyone can win as its mainly luck (Mic even won it) and can help you win the overall console comp.

Was a riot and about 10 tournaments were held for over 10 hours straight. Micolous must have been having nightmares as he was sleeping right next to them as Woodstar was singing I touch Myself and they were trying to beat each others scores in Barbie Girl  The main thing was they were having fun without pissing too many people off.

On the side, Congratulations to Tobby for being the "Barbie Girl Of Street Geek."
I was impressed with how well Singstar rocked the LAN, but attempting to run a comp for every released Singstar backfired a little. Not to mention most of the other comps I had originally planned to run, weren't due to lack of interest or too much interest in Singstar.
Singstar will be back next LAN (With less tournaments and better prizes of course), as well as a special "Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Free for all - Cage Match" tourney. (Tutorial for Cage Match on my youtube account)
I hope to see a better turn out and more people game for Singstar next LAN as it won't be so easy to come out on top. (Shakes fist @ Silver & Shay :P)
For the final rounds recorded, I'll be uploading the videos to youtube, (Especially Rick-Roller Shay, and the all classic Singing Woodstar). I'll edit in links as I remember or feel free to keep checking my youtube account (Aisukasaieki).
Thanks for an awesome LAN guys, I look forward to more success in the future.

Tickets
Tickets are $18 for allocated seating, or $9 for a social ticket, which includes most console gamers. Ladies pay half price. If you prefer, you can buy a supermembership, which gives you a ticket to every LAN for a period of 3, 6 or over 9000 months. Make sure you sign up to the website, and book a seat. A seat booking is required if you want to come in before 8pm, unless there are unbooked seats available. After 8, all bookings are void (except for Supermembers), and you can come with or without a booking. There is almost always a few spare seats, so don't worry if the tickets are booked out, you'll probably still get a seat!

Possibly the best Streetgeek ever from a consolers point of veiw Smash Bros galore, Halo 3, Left 4 Dead, Mariokart, Guitar Hero, Rock Band and even Super Mario World all got thrashed. I counted 12 Guitars and 3 drum kits there so people didnt have to wait long for a shot.
PC area was about 80% full and lots of cool stuff happened there too but I didnt have my own PC at the Lan.
Good (cheap) food and drinks, great atmosphere, tons of gaming, tournamnets, prizes, dual ceiling projectors and lots of socialising made this an awesome Lan.
Dual ceiling projectors in 1080p were insane, I vote for some Co-op or multiplayer Gears of War 2 on them next lan as we spoke about Gears 2 for about 30 mins during lunch but didnt get any games going.

Smash Tournamnets were probly the best ever, I was totally buggered after running 8 hours of them and not sleeping friday night but it was worth it as we had so many awesome games in all tournaments and in freindlies. 0-death chain grabbing Theifs Sheik with Falco twice in a row in a ffa match made my lan.
We also had a very different Smash Bros Brawl Tournament this lan that proved to be alot of fun, rules were: fast brawl, heavy brawl, 1.2 damage, 4 stock, 7 min time limit and only bottom and low teir (ranked) charachters allowed. These rules didnt stop DJB from winning though.
