Not to whinge, but by the time a lot of news hits the front page, its is already a couple of days old in many cases.

Now I know you have a feature for providing news tips, but is there any kind of rule for what qualitfies are newsworth on A-N?

Basically what I'm asking is whether I should actualy notify you guys about this stuff, as I sometimes get news before it 'breaks', and if not then pretty much as soon as it hits rumour mills like QJ.net and GoNintendo.

I like A-N a lot, but for a news site, fast news is a must, so I suggest a slightly more open, user-friendly and discussion based way of providing news tips, maybe in a forum sitcky or something.

I like your idea of creating a board that allows for News Tips. It seems like a much better way of running them as opposed to giving people a not-so-easy-to-find email address. Plus with a lot of our current features using the forums, this seems like an appropriate move.

Regardless, maybe you should apply to join the news posting team TSPhoenix? I'm sure you'd get a position very quickly. Only if you're interested of course.

Well I'm interested, but I can only dedicate so much time, as as such my reliability wavers during heavy workload periods at Uni.

Much like how I haven't had the chance to update my blog or cheap games thread recently. That said whenever I have the time I'm willing to lend a hand.

Hmm i find anything worth knowing is here or on gamesindustry... But perhaps Will or Fleaman could look into perhaps having a php field on our mainpage where visitors can notify us should they think we've missed some news

The reason I created this thread is the "Kojima makinga stage for SSBB' article posted recently. I had heard this news well over 24 hours beforehand and possibly even a few days earlier.

A-N is a news site (on the main page anyway) and if the news isn't up to date, then what's the point. Basically if there was an easy way to notify A-N, this story could have been up in a timely fashion, hence making it much more useful to readers.

its still a rumor, although was reported initially by Nintendo Power. Even so it's hardly a ground breaking story, and i dont often see us get too far behind the 8ball on updating the news site.

Say, something like the Aussie-Inbox (http://www.aussie-nintendo.com/?v=inbox) setup? (on the left)

That setup would do nicely.

That's exactly the same with us. Like Sakura says - this story was not ground breaking news at all and as its a slow weekend, news that didn't make the 'rush cut' on Friday afternoon was given less priority.

Not everyone is glued to computer monitors and websites at every second of the day, so A-N tends to be a nice news roundup for these sorts of people. But if you're interested in joining news staff, as presently its only myself and Aussie, drop me a line.
