View Full Version : Cookies expire too fast

The expiry time on the AN forum cookie is abysmally low, it is used to kepp track of new forum posts, but when it expires that data is lost.
I suggest that we increace the expiry time to at least 30 days, if not 90. Additionally you could just add a Kiosk checkbox to the login screen that would override the cookie expiry time to until the browser is closed.

please do not complain about cookie settings to me. every other site saves cookies fine except AN. i must log in everytime i come back to the forums, now that is frustrating. every other site works fine too, and i have AN to set on Always allow cookies even not keeping it on "always allow" doesn't help at all. no matter what i do it will not save cookies! :(

I've changed some setting, so let me know how it goes over the next few days.

Thanks, it usually resets every 2-3 days, so I'll let you know how things are going in a week-ish.
EDIT: My cookie expired overnight, but don't count this one as this cookie was probably created before you changed the settings. BTW how long should it take to expire now?

I have never had a problem. Its always fine with me, even if I havent been on in a couple of days.

Like Krysinello, I have had no problems with cookies...and am using Firefox.
The last time I had to actually login was about a week ago, when I cleared the cookies from my computer...
I'm interested to know, how the cookies can play up on one system, but are fine on another system?

It seems to be working fine now, I haven't had to re-login since my last post. Thanks.
EDIT: My login expired sometime today, this is a much more reasonable timeframe. Thanks

Should be fixed. Let me know if you still have to continually log in.

Ok. Fleaman, I guess that means that the settings we had were good. Reversal again?

Mmmm. I think this board needs a fresh install :(

Does fresh install = thread purge?
Also speaking of thread purge, do threads ever get deleted here? Or even archived?

I'd presume not, though I haven't looked into it. (Our DB setup is slightly different to the new installation DB).

I suppose that makes sense, if you backed up the database you still have it no matter what you do.
