Gday guys,

I've been trying to get this thing to work for many many months now, so I thought I'd ask for help. I've been trying to get into the torrent scene, and no matter what program I use (I even tried Opera so help me) but none of them work properly. I get a really low speed (around 0.1kb - 0.3kb) and apparently the port I'm using hasn't been forwarded properly. If it's as simple as that, then all I need to know is how to do it.

Now I really must ask that you do not forward me to a guide on the internet (unless absolutely necessary) because chances are, I've seen it before and it's failed (yes, I've viewed just about every one imaginable). People who have my router are preferred, but obviously, the chances of that are slim, so anyone who could help even slightly is appreciated.

My router is a: Belkin ADSL Wireless-G modem/router
Model = F5D7633-4

If anyone can help and get it working after all this time, I'll be sincerely grateful :)

Thanks,

Capt Spaz

I could have bet on that being the first post. Been there at least 4 times. Doesn't work for me, sorry.

Edit; actually.... give me a few minutes. It may work now...

Edit 2: Ok, apparently I need a static IP address. Any help on that one?

It shouldn't matter if your IP is static or dynamic.

I was having the exact same problem. Some portforward.com site that was apparently in the knowhow about all this dope told me that my modem was some kind of shit one that wouldn't forward any ports and that I needed to buy a newer model. I told that website it could screw itself, waited two weeks and tried downloading a torrent again. It all worked perfectly.

You don't need to have port forwarding for torrents to work but if you don't do it you can only connect to people who have done it. In short for two people to connect one has to have properly forwarded ports. By not doing so you are killing your own torrent speeds.

Also having a static IP really helps when it comes to setting up port forwarding, just forward port X to IP Y and because its static that forward will always work.
