And I have no idea how to use it at all really.
I can do basic stuff in Photoshop and draw stick figures that look like pirates etc.
But apart from that, nothing really.
Any tips?

Stick figures are great. Was the first thing I drew with one we had lying around. Actually, was the only thing >_>
It doesn't exactly work properly/reliably :P
Actually, meant to get it out again recently... for more stick figure drawing, no less.

Its a touch screen thats about as big as a mouse pad. You can draw on it a lot easier than a mouse.

My dad has a tablet PC. When he first got it and he left his room for a while I opened up paint and wrote '<Insert Monkey_Boy's real name> was here' and drew a circle and a smiley face. Thats about it.

lolwhut?
Drawing tablets are super awesome. =) Bought myself a Wacom a few years ago. Back then I was only drawing Kirbies. =P
Unfortunately, Dad has spilt coffee all over it, so now there's a big patch on the transparent covering on the tablet.
It still works. Perfectly.

How much exactly or approx. would Tablets cost?

Mine was $300 when I got it, but that was a few years ago. I have Wacom Graphire2. Looks like this (not my image BTW):

Looks small but it works well. There are most likely better ones out there. Do a Google search and have a look.

What do graphics tablets look like when they are on, can you see the image you are drawing displayed on it?

For mine, nope. I'm not sure if there are ones that do this, though. Whatever you drawn is shown on the computer...on what program you're using, to be specific.
It's basically like the mouse, except you have much better control and guidance when using the stylus on your tablet. It's a little trickier than drawing on paper, but once you start practising, it becomes instinct. =)
It beats drawing with a mouse any day, that's for sure.

And this is my sister's actually awesome graphics tablet (pictured amongst desktop crap)

I'm stuck using the crappy one because, funnily enough, it actually somehow manages to kind of work "properly" on my crappy computer :P
It doesn't like it if I start using the mouse though, then all the pressure sensitivity stuff goes away (if it was nice enough to show up in the first place). Also the pen's button thing doesn't work.
I'm in the middle of drawing a picture for a friend, but haven't gotten around to finishing it yet, but will hopefully get it done within a week or two.
