I was one of the people the old lady was yelling at. She just appeared out of nowhere. She was going on, telling everyone in general that she hoped we all choked to death. Quite frankly, I'm amazed she didn't start whacking me with her purse, she was that pissed off.

Does anyone have a Nintendo email address? One of my friends who was there yesterday wants to write a letter of complaint, but so far it's just going to go as snail mail.

If they do have one, it's the best-kept secret in the entire world :P

I've cooled down now. But me and some others are still writing an e mail of complaint to Nintendo (what chance we have who knows) and its mainly for the injustice of it all; the terrible organisational skills and contradictory nature of Jackie Mcgregor . She's the idiot thats running this thing each day. Seriously its like these people think their charasma alone will deal out the frustration people got after waiting 6 hours and getting nothing but a note pad and pen!

Attempt it at your own risk.
I for one am out ;)
Yeah I remember you... you were pretty funny! STAY IN THE LINNNNNNEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Jackie girl was the one that I mentioned in my NSMBWii launch event blog. The one that made a point (in a bit of a condescending manner) that Australia got the game before the rest of the world. Really not a fan of her tone...but oh well.

I was at the Brisbane one today - got there an hour early and after looking through rocking horse, found the reps sitting on the bench outside. It's now a raffle system (apparently due to the violence between competitors yesterday) where everyone is given a raffle ticket (up to 12:30) and then everyone stands around trying to hear them call out raffle numbers. There was a bit of trouble as the city council didn't like the mass of people congregating and started questioning the reps. Basically everyone felt like their time had been wasted, and some of the people who won NSMB were like... oh… I wanted the $50.
So, to sum up, it was quite lame:(

Today's event in Melbourne turned out a little different to past days, in which the coin hunt was simply replaced with a raffle. People still had to attend the specified location using the mX clues, but upon arrival to the location, each person was issued a raffle ticket to go into the draw for the prizes. I can safely say that this approach was for the best as everything played out much better than previous days, not to mention the fact that injuries and cranky old ladies were avoided this way. :)

Although I was unsuccessful in winning (I did receive a nifty Nintendo stationary set), it was nice meeting some of the fellow A-N members at the event. Perhaps the biggest personal highlight was meeting some new friends and getting them together with the A-Ners for some lunch for some classic conversation; good times indeed. :D Best of luck to those who participate tomorrow; you're going to need it. :P

For those who have gone, is it worth getting there before 8:30 like the rules recommend?

It says that the unveiling of the coin is at 12:30, however it tells us that it commences at 8:30. What the hell is commencing?

If today is any indication of future events, then it's probably best to rock up about an hour or so before the "unveiling" time of 12:30. I arrived at the specified location at around 10:10 AM to find nothing there, but when I returned closer to around 11:30 AM, Nintendo staff had just started distributing tickets to people in line.

As long as you get your ticket before 12:30, everything will be fine, but try to turn up a little later in the day to avoid boredom. :)

I met up with Dark Samus and I'm in the city now using the free internet at the awesome Apple store. So far the chances of winning seem pretty high, there hasn't been to much interest in the competition. I'll keep you guys posted.

Hi - From Dark Samus.

Balls... absolute balls. It's 12pm and we are thinking ah there's not gonna be all that many after all, and then stacks of people start rocking up at the last minute before 12:30pm, some of them even without the MX newspaper and still getting a raffle ticket (grr...). Had they have stuck to the original rules (as they should have, theres plenty of ways they could have handled it without completely changing the rules), me and Merc would have won coz we were the first 2 to arrive. But in the end we both walked away with something:

Merc: A Basketball stress ball (with the Wii Sports Resort logo cheaply slapped on the front)
Dark Samus: A plastic make-up mirror... yes, you heard it right. The only reason I'm even considering keeping it is coz its got a light, and it would make a great base for one of my figurines. Talk about outside-of-the-box thinking.

EDIT: Oh and the so called "giant coin" was just lol. It was only one-sided and hollow on the other. Probably not even a metre in diameter.
