Not truly in any order but they're my current preferences anyways.
1. FMP:TSR A great addition and a good take on the End of Day by Day novels, works well into diving into the characters psyches. Plenty of nice action aswell. 2. FMP? Fumoffu first time I watched anything fmp. Was laughing all the way through it. Although it doesn't add anything to the story, it gives a better incite into how crazy Sousuke really is 3. Evangelion This anime is brilliant on so many levels, whether being the character development, deep psycho analysis that goes into the characters mind, the action and the pseudo christianity story that welds it all together, I love it all. 4. Bleach Only recently watched, but it something I'm glad I did. While it does have its down points, mainly filler issues, it has a good story and some fairly interesting characters. 5. FMP The first season of FMP. While my least favourite, I like the story and the character interactions. I more enjoy the books then the TV series, but it aint bad. 6. Trigun Trigun is well done. It has some awesome characters, and a good story that gets deeper as it goes along. 7. Orphen Probably a bit unorthodox to be in a top 10 but I love the first season. While not much goes into character development, it has a good plot and is entertaining 8. Dragonball Not Dragonball Z, I basically love the way Goku is, and some Roshi scenes, its funny and witty. lol at "Bulma, your balls are missing" 9. Elfen Lied Nice plot to it, although not enough closure to it. The characters can be a bit of a let down but I love the way the story is presented. 10. Excel Saga Too stupid to be funny sometimes, but it never gets boring cause each ep is so random. Last edited by Krysinello; 20-07-2008 at 05:21 PM. |

Akira is the best anime movie of all time, and Trigun is probably my favourite tv serial.

This may be difficult, as I can pretty much count the number of good anime's on one hand. I WILL DO MY BEST.
1. Cowboy Bebop 2. Princess Mononoke 3. Hellsing 4. Gundam Wing 5. Cardcaptors 6. Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment. I may edit this later. |

First off, this was for the most part really hard to pick bar three or four certain ones. I'll keep this list to just series and we'll worry about a Anime movie list later on. You'll see I'm a bit of a Gainaxfag, but I won't apologise for that. Again, I feel sorry that I couldn't put more on but alas.
1 Neon Genesis Evangelion Loved this show since I first saw it on SBS all those years back. While it can get a bit full of itself and Gainax will milk it till the day I die, it'll probably always be my favourite. 2 Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Though only a recent anime, the pure machismo and confidence this show has can't help but uplift. Couple that with memorable characters, great animation and great action sequences, it's literally fun to watch. 3 Fullmetal Alchemist Though a bit too long, FMA tells such an original story and uses its ideas to their fullest. The love between Edward and Alphonse is deep and only makes this strong show stronger. 4 Cowboy Bebop Noir anime in a way, Bebop is again an original story with engaging characters. Strengthened by great music, solid animation and one of the most poignant endings ever, this is a show to watch over and over. 5 Azumanga Daioh Silly and stupid, yes, but this is the essential high school anime. Where others insist on plot, this show soldiers on and creates some memorable stuff. The nostalgic effect of care-free school days makes this anime great. 6 Serial Experiments Lain One of the most intellectually stimulating shows I've seen. Lain is a deep dive into the minds of those who occupy a world where a network similar to the internet goes one step further in interaction. 7 FLCL Hyperactive and full-tilt. This no-holds barred OVA never stops to apologise and stimulates visually more than most. The story isn't the strongest but that's okay, because the characters are. 8 Aim For The Top - Gunbuster Another OVA, this sci-fi is so smart they take time out in each episode to go into greater detail over some of the things that happen. Clever, entertaining, pretty old-school anime. What more could you want? 9 The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya Though it doesn't look like much when you first watch, you soon realise this is an anime with something different about it. While I'd just as much like Lucky Star to have this spot, the 'God' story given a fresh twist results in more focused entertainment. 10 Last Exile Pretty anime where again a little originality goes a long way. The world the characters occupy nearly overshadows the characters themselves. It's an anime that's a pleasure to watch, even if towards the end it draws back to a more conventional anime plot. - Mad Bull 34
Classic trash. Love that Sleepy could get shot in the chest like ten times, have bad guys dig their thumbs into the wounds while sticking him with a knife, then ten minutes later he'd be having sex. - Azumanga The REAL show about nothing. Amazingly good to just chill out to, sometimes I still whack it on merely for background noise, then find myself watching the episodes again anyway. - Cowboy Bebop Because it's COWBOY BEBOP. - Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei Dear God this is so underrated. Even the sub groups bailed out and left it to 4chan goons. Episode 7 of the second season is one of the most amazing episodes of anything I've ever seen, purely because it goes through so many art styles. Suicidal teacher, touches on modern issues in society (though usually the most pointless ones which is why it's so amusing.) - Neon Genesis Evangelion As much as I can't stand pretty much the whole second half of this series, it still had incredible moments. SBS running this did wonders for my interest in anime. - Lucky Star Pretty much the same reasons as Azumanga, except LS tends to go places at times. - Haibane Renmei Absolutely brutal at times, but a wonderful series. - Gintama I never thought I'd get addicted to one of these eight hundred million episode anime's, but damn this show can be hilarious. - I My Me, Strawberry Eggs! Because that name is the greatest thing ever. Also it was pretty good. Also crossdressing. Also. - Clannad Drama drama drama drama drama comedy bit drama drama oh, spawned a megaton of amazing remix albums.

ZOMG Clannad made me feel so sad near the end. Just that whole part about Okazaki having nothing in his life was really sad (and aside from the ending in Crisis Core, probably the closest I will come to shedding a tear from a Japanese animation-based story)

Ok, here goes:
EVA: Everyone else has already explained, and as IM said, SBS running this started my love affair with anime. Trigun: Vash is a fantastically endearing character, and it's a great anti-nuclear message. Also, my first daughter will be named Rem. GTO- Onizuka's exploits, and the variety of teen issues the series addresses over it's run, make it one of the best ever. Dragonball: This list is in no particular order, hence Dragonball being here. But young Goku kicks ass, and the sense of whimsy and wonder in the show are fantastic. Cromartie High School: WTF sums it up well. Wicked City/Golgo 13: If 80's anime could be summed up concisely, these two would do it well. Much love for Golgo. One Piece: My anime guilty pleasure. I know I shouldn't watch it, but can't look away. FMA: When I first saw it, I was going to write it off as otaku swill, but it's deceptively good, and unbelievably captivating. Gantz: a terribly grim look at humanity, with a bit of the ol' ultra violence to match. Grappler Baki: Great concept, but skips between manga storylines at will, making the manga necessary reading first. As above, my list is in no particular order.
