Default New Play Control! : Yay or Nay?

I figured a thread dedicated to this wouldn't be such a bad idea. There are so many mixed opinions regarding the New Play Control! Series, and with the release of Pikmin I thought people could all share their experiences and opinions regarding the rather lazy but at the same time cool idea.

I owned the original Pikming back in the GC days, but I ended up returning it after really disliking it (keep in mind I was about 10ish or so, somewhere near that). My sister did own Pikmin 2 for quite some time which we never got around to playing (and eventually sold on eBay for $130 =D). So I figured why not give the original a try again? I got it today from EB matching the Target deal so I can return it if I feel the need, but so far I can say I'm really enjoying it. Within the first few minutes I was thinking (Ew..it feels just like an old GC game), but after a few hours I found the new controls to be very comfortable, and found myself addicted to it (after all I'm meant to be packing for our Year 12 retreat).

And so in summary I guess I can say that so far, so good. Not sure whether it's worth $40 yet, or worth a place in my collection, but the new controls definately do work. I don't know how to explain it but I'm sure people will agree that a game can be so much more appealing when the controls are made much simpler and more intuitive.

What's the opinion of everyone else regarding the whole New Play Control! Idea plus any hands-on thoughts of Pikmin.

I loved Pikmin. Won't be buying it again, though.

Metroid Prime, on the other hand, will probably be my single videogame purchase of 2009. I'm keen for it. I loved Corruption, and Prime is my favourite game ever, so yeah.

I love the new play control idea/games:

1) Because they are all of gamecube games I never got!!!
2) Cuz the wii controls go so well with the games :)

I mean I already picked up pikmin and finished it (SO much fun)
I plan on buying every new release monthly as they come out on the 26th of each month.

Also I am hoping that they make more then just 7 games they should make nearly every gamecube game into a new play control :)
SO I can relive some of those cool memories, plus they beat all the bad wii games that are being released now days XD

it's an option but Nintendo should also start implementing the Player Choice range on Wii. It doesn't really do much for me so fat as most of the titles they announce for the NPC range, I already own...

Will be exciting if Chibi Robo actually makes its way into Aussie stores, and maybe if Mario Tennis has some nice extras I'll give that a shot aswell

Metroid Prime 1 & 2 are must buys for me. Something about having all 3 titles on the one platform seems awesome in my eyes.
REVERSE THE COVERS will be a pre-requisite after purchase. Hate those shitty standard NPC covers -_-

its probably been mentioned but Mario Tennis is the next NPC title in AUS - 26/03 saw it in store promotion.

I missed heaps of awesome GC games, such as Pikmin, Pikmin 2, Mario Tennis, Metroid Prime etc, so this is PERFECT for me ;)

I'm the lone guy who voted 'no (so far). I still believe this is a cash in situation and where development resources should be shifted to just ground up titles. The fact that people are hyping 5 year old games with no added online or extra substantial content is a joke to me. It would be much better if Metroid 1+2 came in a box set with limited edition stuff WITH the wii controls and maybe an ancheivement system or something. Same goes for Pikmin - this should be a love letter to Nintendo fans - photoshop Shiggy's signature or something to at least pretend you care, Nintendo?

But DKJB with wiimotes? WTF were they thinking? And if I'm going to get my true wiimote Pikmin experience, I may as well just wait for no. 3 which has been confirmed. Even though I LOVE F-Zero GX, I've already got it with a tight and farmiliar control scheme.

A no-go for New Play Style. It's quite simply, a rehash.

Looks like I'm number 2. Though, I didn't choose the second bad option. "New controls won't make old games good". Implies that being old makes them bad somehow, and thus need improving. Which I disagree with, I have them already and they're great as they are. Especially Jungle Beat :P

I know Jungle Beat's going to be a butchered experience without the bongos, but I can't help but get excited in the pantaloons over the fact that it'll have a bunch of new stages.

New Play Control! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
