Default Confirmed at last: Michael Jackson worked on Sonic 3's soundtrack

It's been rumoured since the dawn of time, but an interview with Brad Buxer in the latest issue of Black & White - a French magazine dedicated to everything MJ - has finally confirmed Michael Jackson's involvement with Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Quote:
B&W: Can you clarify the rumour that Michael had in 1993 composed the music for Sonic 3 video game, for which you havel been credited?

Buxer: I've never played the game so I do not know what tracks on which Michael and I have worked the developers have kept, but we did compose music for the game. Michael called me at the time for help on this project, and that's what I did.
And if he is not credited for composing the music, it's because he was not happy with the result sound coming out of the console. At the time, game consoles did not allow an optimal sound reproduction, and Michael found it frustrating. He did not want to be associated with a product that devalued his music...

B&W: One of the surprising things in this soundtrack is that you can hear the chords from Stranger in Moscow, which is supposed to have been composed later...

Buxer: Yes, Michael and I had composed those chords for the game, and it has been used as base for Stranger in Moscow. [...]
Carnival Night Zone takes samples right from 'Jam', and below is a mix of 'Stranger in Moscow' with Sonic 3's end credits tune.

Amazing. Even more so that this has just been confirmed now.
Kinda makes me look at the music from the Sonic games differently.

Not really surprising considering. Sega constantly outsourced sonic music to pop artists. Micheal Jackson has said he liked video games in many interviews, even making his own.

WHAT OTHER SKELETONS CAN WE SHAKE FROM HIS CLOSET NOW THAT HE'S DEAD?

Completely forgot about this, a friend linked me to this video way back in 06.

Nice to have it finally confirmed. Wish he was online so I could see if he's heard yet. Though I somehow doubt he hasn't :P

I never saw Sonic as a Stranger in Moscow. But it actually suits him.......

especially with his sales and appeal today.

By the way i'm talking about Sonic here.

Sega's constant milking of the dead Sonic franchise reminds me of Sony's constant milking of Michael Jackson stuff.

It's sad how even in death it's never put to rest.

All Sonic is good now for is Olympics and Brawling.

Huh, go figure. Explains why some of the tunes are so catchy though. S3&K would be my favorite game in terms of music. =P

Makes me wonder if he worked on Hydrocity Zone though, gotta be my favourite S3 tune, easy.
