Default A few oddities...

Has anyone heard of the 'Blue Playstation'?

And the PS2 with the word 'TEST'?

And even a GameCube with a screen on top and some strange accessory attacthed to the bottom?

the PS2 with the word Test is a unit sent out to media outlets so they can review games. PS3 test units also have test on them.

Blue PSone may just be a colour only from Japan

The Gamecube could be a Mod

I remember a screen for the PS1 as well, similar to the Gamecube there.

Wow, looking through that site is just like what I imagine it would be like to wander through Infernal's house.

GCN Screen isn't that big of a deal, but I'm intrigued by what that thing underneath it could be. Because it sure doesn't look like a GB Player. DAMMIT WHY ISN'T THAT SITE CAPTIONED??

Infernal's house has copies of Russel Grant's Astrology framed on each wall, though.

What was the screen distributed by? Is it a third-party accessory?

Anyone remember that package you could buy from Sony which allowed you to create and play your own games with a complex SDK using a special Playstation? It was called Net Yaroze and it was flippin' sweet. Some of you may still own some of the games coded with Net Yaroze as the more popular, better ones were sometimes included on the demo discs that came with Official PlayStaion Magazine. Fuck, I love that magazine ;_;

Ahhhhh, my friend used to say that he knew a guy who had a Playstation game that allowed him to make Playstation games. I always thought he was lying, hahahaha. He said he made a game where you are a snail and you have a time limit for staying alive. After you died, you'd spawn again and your ghost would continue on the path you had set in your previous life. It's confusing, and as I said I never really thought it could've existed. Until now!

Yeah, I totally remember it Parasyte. I had a demo disc called "Q1" or something like that, it was white and had about 30 Net Yaraoze games included. Some of them were great! Would be awesome if it came back as something similar to the 360's Indie Game service... I'd love that.

...Yeah, he was probably lying still.

When I was 7, my friend proclaimed to me that he could make Mega Drive games and or 10 cents, could code me a game which shows a baby crawling on endless loop. Even at that age I knew he was full of shit, but decided to play along with the concept to humour him.

Many games made by hobbyists on the Net Yaroze were released on various demo discs that came along with the Official PlayStation Magazine from the late 1990s up to 2004. The last Official PlayStation Magazine UK issue, number 108, featured a compilation with many Net Yaroze games. A regular PlayStation disc, featuring a number of user-developed games, was produced by SCEE and sent to PAL zone Yaroze owners.
Some of these games are:
  • Adventure Game
  • Between The Eyes
  • Blitter Boy (Chris Chadwick)
  • Bouncer 2
  • Clone
  • A Dog Tale
  • Gravitation
  • Haunted Maze
  • Hover Car Racing
  • The Incredible Coneman
  • Mah Jongg (Gerhard Rittenhofer)
  • Opera of Destruction
  • Psychon
  • Pushy 2
  • Rocks'n'Gems (Gerhard Rittenhofer)
  • Super Bub Contest (Alex Herbert)
  • Terra Incognita
  • Time Slip
  • Total Soccer
  • Tunnel
  • Down
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_Yaroze

THIS was the demo disc I had. :) Stuff like Rocks 'n Gems, Total Soccer and Gravitation was so much fun to play. Actually, we used to play 2-player Gravitation a whole heap, more than a lot of PSX 2-player games. It was cool, you're like ships that fly around and either shoot each other or race. I played a Steam game at a friends house recently that reminded me of it (Altitude I think it was called).

I want to find it now...

Boon: I thought the game you mentioned sounded familiar! It is a pretty cool game IIRC, played it a bit but it was a tad challenging for me when I was younger. :)

Here is Gravitation, it looks a little boring in 1 player though. :p

Oh, and Rocks'n'Gems:
