Does anyone know how much the damn thing is gonna cost outright? Every site I go to including the Apple site won't give me a price!!

EDIT:
Quote:
Apple revealed prices are set to start from $859 unlocked, with both the 16GB and 32GB models available from Thursday midnight after both Optus and Telstra announced selected stores would be open at 12am for the launch. Apple is yet to announce its plans for the phone's Australian debut.
Is that it?

A thousand bucks for a phone is pretty f-ing disgusting.... But I guess it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. :\

I'll probably pick up a 16gb one so I can make games seeing as my phone just broke. Good timing I guess. Still not happy about that obscene price. I won't feel comfortable carrying around something that expensive.

Vodafone rang me today to ask me if I wanted to switch over seeing my contract is expired. Apparantly they are posting my new one out to me.

A grand isn't that bad considering you can do much worse. I think I'll wait for "improvements" to me made. The "antennaegate" thing has been take out of proportion but I need to get my hands on one before making the final decision.

True that. You could spend 5 grand on a computer or alternatively waste hundreds of dollars on useless mouse replacement products...

But no seriously. $1000 for a phone is a joke. It is for this exact reason that I'm happy to keep my 5 year old, $50 old motorola phone which doesn't break the bank, and does exactly what I want it to do... ACT AS A PHONE.

Higher end mobiles these days really are just portable personal computers. I'm still amazed they don't overheat (often) and fry themselves in the pockets of their owners.

Yeah, they're pretty cool. All thanks to technology. I remember when Snake 2 used to be the big deal!

I've seen the phone you carry. That phone is never going to reach to coolness of my phone's ringtone!

I was gonna get one until all these problems with the antenna. I don't really want to support a company that spends ages denying the problem. Then finally admits its a problem and are giving out free cases to stop it. Then they release video's showing signal loss on their competitors phones. Quite poor imho.
