Nintendo shows off Wii U Panorama View at Consumer Electronics Expo
Posted January 16, 2012 5:43 PM by Lucario
The biggest electronics convention in the world - the Consumer Electronics Expo - took place last week in Las Vegas. Nintendo usually has very little presence at CES considering the gaming industry has its own major exhibition each June in Los Angeles.
Nintendo actually took to the show floor at CES this year with their upcoming Wii U system, however only media representatives could access their booth. Nintendo didn't show or reveal anything new at CES and had the same demos available to play that where at E3 2011, there was however a Wii U demo featuring something called Panorama View, Nintendo claims this was at E3 last year but it appears to have been overlooked by all the other Wii U titles Nintendo had on offer.
In Panorama View, the main TV displays a front view of a passenger driving around a Japanese street, by moving the Wii U controller around, it is then possible to view to same street from other directions depending on where you hold the remote. Though this demonstration is simply a novelty, it really shows how the controller's built-in motion controls and gyro sensor can add some really interesting features to games and applications developed for the system.
Nintendo is expected to release more information about the Wii U between now and E3 2012 in June.
