The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famtisu has revealed that Dead Rising, Capcom's well received Xbox 360 sandbox-style survival-horror title, is set to be ported to the Nintendo Wii.
The Wii port of Dead Rising looks set to take full advantage of the Wii Remote as it gives players a brand new control scheme, much like Capcom's earlier port Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, to take on the hoards of the living dead found in-game. Players will use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck to shoot, tackle, slash and wrestle their way through zombie filled environments, controlling protagonist Frank West as he explores the deadly surrounds of an inescapable mall to uncover the truth behind the incident.
Dead Rising on the Xbox 360 currently holds a Game Rankings average of 85%. No release date is mentioned in the Famitsu article, but scans of the magazine can be found here.

Sweet merciful tap-dancing christ, this is fantastic! Capcom is rapidly becoming my favourite developer, with the two Resident Evil games, Zack and Wiki, Okami, Mega Man 9 and now this, they're really bringing the good stuff to the Wii.

It's gonna look like a N64 game graphics wise. I betcha.

As long as the port isn't gimped gameplay wise I don't mind. Its going to look worse but meh. That said the game is peanuts to buy on 360, it might struggle to gain footing on Wii when its five times the price.
I'm kinda torn too, I mean games like this we want on Wii I guess, but do we want to be sending the message that we want watered down next gen ports. I guess we do if they are good ports, I'll wait and see.

Hats off to Capcom, brining even more good games to Nintendo!

Capcom filling in the void that Nintendo always seem to create.

I guess Capcom is paying better attention to the Wii than Nintendo is, at the moment... Game quality-wise.

I love it how everyone is "YAYAYAYA <3<3 CAPCOM!!!" even though they've mainly only brought us ports. Good ones, I'll admit, and this is looking pretty decent too, but it is hardly 'paying better attention to the Wii than Nintendo is'. Though, Animal Crossing is looking like quite a shit job on Nintendo's part, seemingly more like a rehash of the DS/GCN game then a Wii game, according to impressions... :/
Oh, guys, I <3 Capcom too, I'm sorry, I couldn't hold it in... :)
Nah, seriously good job Capcom.

But seriously, Animal Crossing looks good, but not much better than the DS version, like you said, and Wii Sports 2? Sure, I wouldn't have minded that as much if it were announced alongside Pikmin Thrii or Super Mario Nebula! But alas, it was announced alongside Wii Music, another casual, five minutes at a time title. Just what everyone was begging for. Come on, why announce casual games at E3? The casual market doesn't pay attention to E3 and the like!
What I was merely saying was, at least Capcom is showing us the love... ;)

What an odd decision. This is going to be one hell of an epic downgrade!

Yes cant wait to See Dead Rising on Wii. Now all Wii needs is RE5 >_>

RE5 is not happening, I've already explained in the RE5 thread why its not happening so go look if you care.
I also made another post about Capcom's Wii habits, basically they make their major Wii games in bunches of three. An original title, a good port and a spinoff/sequel. This year its Spyborgs, Dead Rising and Monster Hunter 3 it seems. Its a good formula IMO.

This is a google translation on some details on the game. It appears its using the RE4Wii engine. I'll leave the rest to you to figure out, half of it makes no sense to me. It does however sound like they are making sizable

Cool. Good on ya Capcom, don't disappoint us now, you've got nearly everyone who just posted their hopes up.

Uh-oh, looks like trouble, Dead Rising may only be for Japan
"[UPDATE] Speaking with GameSpot, Capcom senior director of communications and community Chris Kramer confirmed that Dead Rising will be released for the Wii in Japan. However, when queried about a North American release, Kramer demurred, saying all other regions are "to be determined." "

Hopefully we will see Dead Rising.

I doubt its Japan only, it doesn't make any sense financially.

I think basically its just the same as the 360 version with lesser graphics and they removed the photo system. Also there is a new stage/boss.
