Black Wii and red DSi are on their way

To Japan, at least. At a retailer conference today, Nintendo of Japan announced their plans to launch a black Wii in August and a red DSi next month (July 11; the same day as Dragon Quest IX). Matching black controllers and accessories will also be made avaliable for the Wii.




But the fun doesn't stop there, there'll also be a black Wii bundle with Monster Hunter 3 Tri~ and a Classic Controller Pro in August. While the game doesn't require the use of a Classic Controller like Monster Hunter G did, the option's there. With that, white and black Classic Controller Pro Monster Hunter 3 game bundles will also hit retailers for those that don't want to bother with motion controls.


Finally, Japan's Club Nintendo will be offering a limited amount of blue Wii Sports Resort themed Wii Remotes and Nunchuks . Phew!

Haha. That monster hunter bundle looks very awesome.

If I didn't have a Wii i'd definitely consider getting that bundle.

The black Wii is okay, I guess.

I really liked the NES-style Wii mockup someone did back in 2005 or whenever. If they released something like that for reals I wouldn't buy it, but I'd probably grab a new Remote if they gussied 'em up like an NES controller to go alongside it and also had them available separately.

It was only a matter of times before they released coloured Wii's, it no doubt looks great and will sell well.

Not a huge fan of the red DSi however, prefer the standard colours.

If that dsi goes stateside, or europe side, i am in, i have been unsure, but this cuts the cake. make it happen. slso, mighty flipchamps and MvsD helped sell me.

i just brought a decal for my white one a couple weeks ago (yet to apply it).

those blue controllers look fugly :/

I really like the look of the red DSi too. I would actually consider getting one if it was available in Australia.

As much as I love the black one, the Metroid Wii was probably slightly awesomer :P

I would actually pay $300 for that red DSi.
And I would totally buy a Black Wii Remote if they were availiable in Aus.

Monster Hunter is already selling through expectations as it is, Tri bundled with the Black Wii will sell like flaming hotcakes in Japan; way to shift units.

I wonder how long it will take for the Black Wii to make it overseas. Given that Nintendo are now looking to ship different coloured Wii's, they must have upped the ante on production quite a bit to meet current demand.

I am one of those that share the pain.

I hope that ozmodchips will be able to do something nifty with this though. Like, take the official covers and buttons from the black wii, and transfer them to the white ones. One of the problems with custom cases at the moment, is that they never quite fit perfectly like the normal ones do...
