Final Fantasy Gaiden joins DS' party

Late last week, Square Enix launched a countdown site for 'NEW GAME' (really), but it would seem Weekly Jump has beaten them to the punch, today revealing 'new game' as Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden, a brand new adventure for the DS.

Square Enix is taking this back to the old-school design (zippers and belts are kept to a minimum). The hero of the game is summoned by the king on his 14th birthday to save the princess from a witch. Incredible! Battles are standard turn-based, menu-driven affairs, with up to four people in your party.

Weapons can be customised, and magic points (MP) have been replaced with a 'Charge' command. Final Fantasy Gaiden is due out in Japan later this year.
