The Nintendo DSi has sold over 1.7 million units in the United States in its first three months on sale, beating both the DS and DS Lite along with the Wii. The original Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite sold 1.38 and 1.07 million respectively in their first three months after being released whilst the Wii managed to reach 1.52 million units.
Whilst the Nintendo DSi may seem to be quite pricey compared to its predecessors, it is certainly not fazing customers with sales well over the 100,000 mark here in Australia. Many people are upgrading their older DS units to experience the new DSi exclusive features such as the DSi Camera and Facebook integration, music player and online store.

I have to admit, I didn't expect the DSi to do as well as it has. =o It's a huge jump in price over the DS Lite.

Wow. That's surprising. Didn't think it'd outsell the Wii. I don't play on getting one, anyway. I still prefer the Lite.
The DSi is hardly an improvement. I can't think of anything besides the DSi Shop that'd make it that much more of useful piece of hardware. Adding a camera onto something seems to attract customers, though.

I was excited by the premise of the DSI, but until DSIWare has something worthwhile, i'll stick to my phats.

Actually it only takes seconds to turn MP3s into AAC files on iTunes, the thing is if you have iTunes you most likely have an iPod.

I just found iTunes deep in my computer hard drive, never used, so I used it to convet the songs to AAC and I don't use it for anything else.

Yes, I'm aware of iTunes' capabilities. But in comparison to the syncing of an iPod, it's far more convenient. Plus, SD cards can only hold so much.
But meh, it's your technology- utilize it as you will.

| Maybe for you Lite-owning chaps, but for someone who was still chugging away on an originial model circa early 2005 the difference in screen brightness and sound quality is incredible. |
