Lufia being remade for DS

Posted 18th of November, 2009 at 09:30 pm by Infernal Monkey Infernal Monkey is offline

The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed Estpolis: The Lands cursed by the Gods - a DS remake of the Super Nintendo's Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. But wait! Lufia II was released in Australia as just plain Lufia back in 1997, as we never got the first one. Confused? Excellent.

It's okay though, because Lufia II (Lufia) was actually a prequel to the first Lufia game (not the Australian Lufia - that was the prequel sequel). No, no, the American Lufia, the one called Lufia & The Fortress of Doom. Then if you factor in your shoe size and spill custard down the stairs, you've got yourself a baby raptor. Oh my yes, Taito sure had fun with Lufia back in the day.

So now it's headed to the DS. The remake's developed by Neverland, who were responsible for the original Super Nintendo games along with the more recent Rune Factory series. It'll feature 3D graphics and voice acting. The battle system has also completely changed, from an encounter-based deal to full on action. Estpolis: The Lands cursed by the Gods (Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals [Lufia]) launches in Japan next February. I'm sure Square Enix will localise it one day. The world will end the instant it launches in Australia.

AWESOME-FISH! When I saw "remake of Lufia", I was all liek "Aww crap...not the first one!" But it's not! It's the 2nd one! The prequel! So it's the first one! Much better than the original IMO.

I thought that picture of Selan was Artea at first. I remember as a youngen I always wondered whether Artea was a girl or not, never really paying much attention to the text. SELAN HAS GREEN HAIR, NOT BLUE!

"Full-on action battling" eh? Uhh...will definitely need to know more! :O
Great news! :D

**EDIT**

No wonder Maxim didn't bother with that sooky bitch Tia and went for teh Selan.
-The team arrive at Lexis' lab. Maxim speaks with Lexis-
Maxim: "I'm uhh... I'm hittin' that."

In other news...plenty of pics in Google Image of Artea portrayed as both a guy and a girl. I guess I wasn't the only one.

The situation was somewhat similar to the localisation of Earthbound (Mother 2), except latter releases were not prequels.

Seriously though, who in their right mind would develop a prequel-sequel and then proceed to slap on a [Series title name] 2 label upon it? Taito were asking for trouble...

What the hell? Amazing. They're remaking Lufia: Rise of the Sinistrials for DS....
This is insane news.

A direct port may well have turned out better, but still, I'll remain optimistic about this.
And optimistic about it finding an English release...

... I wonder what they'll do with the Ancient Cave, gees I really hope they leave it in.
That was brilliant.
