Remember back in the day when Nintendo couldn't make enough Wii consoles? Well the opposite is happening at the moment as the Wii's sales heads down hill. Nintendo have informed Japanese companies Mitsumi and Hosiden to reduce production since there is no longer a demand for the Wii any more, even with the recent price drops. It seems Nintendo have marketed the Wii to everyone they possibly could in the last three years and now there aren't many people left in the world who still don't own the console yet want one. Cutting back the number of Wii's being manufactered has created a loss in revenue for the two Japanese manufacturing companies, add this to the Wii's declining sales this year and they've both lost over 50% in net profit.
It seems the Wii is facing some tough times especially when faced with two powerful and cheap competitors who are both expanding their install base. Nintendo more then anyone will know when the Wii's time is up and they'll be ready to introduce a new console which will hopefully carry on the success of the Wii.
