Put down that grandfather clock you've got strapped to your wrist, it's fantastic news time. According to the Australian Classification Board, Konami is gearing up to launch Castlevania: Rondo of Blood on the Virtual Console. The game was originally released on the PC Engine CD (TurboGrafx-CD) in 1993 as a Japanese-exclusive. It eventually found its way to the Western world in 2007 as part of Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for PSP.

This is a traditional side-scroller rather than the more recent 'Metroidvania' type games. Rondo of Blood also took full advantage of the space-age CD-ROM technology with a killer soundtrack. Bloody Tears never sounded so good!

Except the VC version won't have the CD quality audio as that made the game 500MB. The low-fi versions are considerably less nice, but still catchy as.

I bought Dracula X Chronicles for my brother for Christmas and I've been playing it a whole heap, nearly finished it. It's my first Castlevania but it is fantastic. I bought it for $25 pre-owned which is an awesome price. I'm liking the difficulty, and man the music is great. Good to see Rondo coming here finally.
