Japan's mature-rated Wii games to get black cases

Starting with the upcoming release of Nintendo/Sandlot's Zangeki no REGINLEIV, Wii games that are rated CERO C and up (15+) are going to get fancy black cases and matching spines.

As people around the world never pay attention to what a game has been rated, this is Nintendo's own way of informing consumers these games aren't suitable for babies in the womb to play. It's not known if Nintendo will be doing this anywhere else.


They'll stand out nicely!


But then again, it's going up against Miffy & Friends...

Awesome idea awesome idea awesome idea. It really suits the new Black Wiis in Japan, and gives that mature side of the Wii's software base it's own distinct feel. I'd be ecstatic if they employed this around the world with new Black Wiis. It could do wonders for the Wii's image.

So ic Cero C like M, or MA? Just looking through my collection... if it were retroactively applied to M+, I think I'd have more black cases than white :P

Yeah, CERO C is basically like our M rating, then there's D which would be MA15+.

Aaannnd they've also got a Z rating (R18+) but I don't think any Wii games have gotten that.

Nintendo doesn't allow them, if I remember right.

Hard to imagine some of these games with black covers. Metal Slug, Battalion Wars 2 or the Trauma Centre games? :P

I watched miffy this morning while I waited for my mates to wake up. She and her friend had identical teddies, and they got them mixed up, but in the end they knew which teddy belonged to who because of the way each one smelled.
It was really quite strange.

I like, I like. It'd be cool if they had the black cases over here, but I wonder if they'll look out of place like NSMBW. If you were to buy enough of them I imagine they wouldn't, but how many will you really buy before the end of the Wii's lifespan?
Regardless, very stylish.

Wow, one Nintendo's ideas that I actually agree with. The black cases make Wii games look bad arse, hopefully Aus gets this too, I'm all for it.

Oooooh pretty. I love the contrast on the Madworld box. Also, someone needs to photoshop the black top and Z rating onto that Miffy box. I'd do it but I still haven't installed Photoshop. Still. <_<
