VC Sonic & Knuckles out this month

At long last, Sonic & Knuckles is finally going to be made available on the PAL Virtual Console service. Nintendo of Europe has confirmed it for next Friday, the 12th. 1994.

Much like the actual cartridge, the Virtual Console version of Sonic & Knuckles is able to 'lock on' to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It automatically detects if the other games are on the Wii. The original Sonic the Hedgehog can also be locked on, giving access to the full version of 'Blue Sphere' - a bonus game with hundreds of stages.

Does that Mega Drive Super Collection on PS3/360 have Sonic & Knuckles lock-on?

This truly is great news, but couldn't you play the 'blue sphere' game with any incompatible Mega Drive game?

Yep, except one of the Phantasy Stars, which was so big that it just caused an error.

I strongly urge those who haven't owned the original cartridge versions of the Sonic classics to get this game. Sonic 3 and Knuckles is beyond excellence.

The Sonic Mega Collection (Which is the awesome one) is on Cube, PS2, Xbox, and PC.

Sonic Gems is the terrible one. There is also a collection of 1, 2, 3 and 3+K being released for DS soon, as well as a 40 game Mega Drive (I always call it Genesis because I get Mega Drive and Master System confused.) coming out for 360 and PS3.

The PS3 and 360 one is already out, has a lot of awesome games IIRC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic%2...sis_Collection 'cept it doesn't have lock-on.

Don't have a DS soooo. :) think I'll grab the PS3/360 one if I ever get my own PS3/360.

Sonic Mega Collection+ on PS2 is inferior to Mega Collection on Gamecube for one very important reason: IT DOES NOT SUPPORT 60Hz!

That brings me to my question; is the PAL VC version of Sonic & Knuckles 60Hz? If not then it'd be a better choice to invest a few extra bucks for Sonic Mega Collection on Ebay or something.

I realise I go on about NES and MD games on VC not being at full speed in Australia. It's just...well I feel ripped off when I buy a version of a game that's inferior to another countries version...

...of course I didn't buy Left 4 Dead 2 D:

I never really had a problem with Mario Kart 64 or Zelda: Ocarina Of Time until you told me they were slow in PAL, actually. XD

Obviously the game is in 50Hz, but you're probably referring to the gameplay speed. I'm under the impression that Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles had their own PAL localisations but i don't know if that affected the gameplay speed or not. I'll look at it later.
