Hotel Dusk sequel gets localised

Posted 14th of July, 2010 at 07:16 pm by Infernal Monkey Infernal Monkey is offline

Nintendo of Europe has once again saved the day for CiNG fans, confirming the release of Hotel Dusk's sequel in September. It'll go under the name Last Window: The Secret of Cape West.

The game takes place one year after the original. Kyle Hyde (hero to all) has been fired from his luxurious salesman job, but is soon slipped a mysterious letter telling him to search for an object called the 'Red Star' in the Cape West apartment building. Last Window also introduces an in-game novel which compliments the game's storyline. Progress in the game will unlock further chapters in its story.

Last Window: The Secret of Cape West is due out September 17 in Europe. Given the lack of Another Code: R in Australia, a local release is extremely unlikely.

Who cares where it is, as long as it's in English. I'll get this as long as the puzzles are actually playable. Such a shame since the setting/music/story/art style/etc was all quite gripping. A damn shame.

You don't need to beat the first one to get this, do you?

The end of it was pretty awesome, and tied up the questions asked at the start of the game. I'd play it again, even if you followed a walk through at times.

It wasn't so much the puzzles as much as the ridiculous linearity and that you never had any idea what trigger you hadn't activated to get to the next plot point.

I didn't mind that because it made you investigate everything, and you ARE a detective with a mild disorder of being overly curious.

This is why I enjoy working at a store that sells games where I can swap out my white bulky cases for the tons of spare black ones we own.

Don't feel bad - the original was a terrible game. It was an illustrated, semi-interactive novel with the plot from a day-time drama.

Why should that happen? You were the first to express that this game means nothing to you... I merely replied to you ;-)

I recently purchased the first entry in the series and although it is a little rough around the edges it's artistic direction is awesome. I would love to see Capcom use the artistic direction of the first game in a future Ace Attorney title, with the added polish it woul be a first day purchase. Maybe AAI:ME2?

My opinion was neutral towards the game because I haven't played it before.

Excellent news! My hopes for a localisation were lost, both due to the large time window since the Japanese release, as well as CiNG's collapse adding to the uncertainty, so Nintendo of Europe confirming an English release is a pleasant surprise indeed. Hopefully the flaws of the original have been addressed; Infernal's inevitable review on the game (along with others) should shed light on that matter before I commit to a purchase. :P

September is looking to be a good month for Nintendo-side gaming!
