New Super Mario Bros. Wii National Coin Challenge comes to an end

Well after weeks of touring Australia and New Zealand, the New Super Mario Bros. Wii National Coin Challenge has finally wrapped up. Yesterday at The Mint in Sydney, the finalists from each state the event was held in all got together and battled it out in New Super Mario Bros. Wii to see who could collect the most coins in a single stage.

With 1500 entrants taking part in the event across Australia and New Zealand, the number of contestants was filtered down until we were left with the best of the best. Australia's greatest New Super Mario Bros. Wii coin grabbing collector person... guy is Brendan Robeson from Western Australia, the two winners from the Tag Team round are brother and sister duo Sandra and Andrew Dare from New South Wales. All three winners will receive flights, accommodation and $1000 to spend at the Nintendo World Store in New York City.



Well that's the end of another Nintendo Connection Tour, congratulations to the winners and thanks to the assumingly exhausted staff over at Nintendo Australia.

Of course there is, like a golden statue of Mario that was available at a random Japanese event call TGS.

I meant solid metal at least. I'll post a picture of something they offered in Japan.

EDIT: Actually this was for the DS launch or something like that in Japan. It's called Touch DS from what I can remember:

And it had nothing to do with Club Nintendo, even though the logo is there.

They should have made it Mario and Luigi and the two coloured Toads in the game... sigh.
